Bees at work

The marañón japonés is a juicy delicious fruit with awesome big trees in Central America. Unimaginable not to eat them! Such a temptation for anyone who sees them.

A l´ombre des Magueys
“A l´ombre des magueys” is an artwork about how the shadows are intertwined with the leaves of the agave.
We don´t know where the virtual shades of the leaves under the sun, are reflecting the certitude to our eyes.
We don´t comprehend yet, how hard will be in the future to distinguish between the metaverse shadows of unreality and the truth of what really exists. Oeuvre exhibited at the XXXV edition APACULSA 2022 (Asociación de Patrimonio Cultural de Santa Ana), El Salvador.

Tomatada Harvest Collection
These tomatoes were the harvest of 2021. My mother sow some tomato seeds last year, and the plant started to grow, and expand greatly. We reaped beautiful tomatoes for Christmas time. Our harvest was captivating. How not to paint them?.

Pandemic Memories Collection
After March 2021 we have been trying to survive the pandemic by following all the bio-sanitary measures. The masks were the source of protection for everyone on earth. The first artwork was selected by the International Watercolor Society of India to participate in the Third IWS India Biennale 2022, celebrated in March this year. The individual masks were selected for the Petit Format Exhibition at the Gallery Izalco Art, El Salvador (December 2021).

Picnic Avec Luna

The lovely dog that has sat down on the blue colorful blanket is Luna. She is 6 years old and is the sister of another dog (Cherry) that I sadly lost this year. When Cherry died, I wanted to paint her, but I was unable to. Tears came out every time I tried to brush Cherry´s little hair. I still miss her.

Love at First Sight II

Love happens, sometimes in the kitchen. “Love at First Sight II” was first accepted and exhibited at the 2021 North East Watercolor Society (NEWS) 45th International Exhibition, Connecticut. The oeuvre was then accepted for the International Watercolor Masters IWM 2022 Contest in England. Then it was granted the recognition of the 200 top merit awards IWM 2022 (only 5.3% of the total selected artworks were honored with this recognition). Finally, “Love at First Sight II” has been selected for showcasing in Biafarin Awards international online exhibition from December 2022 to January 2023.
Meaning of the oeuvre: The kettle sounds its love message after some minutes of patience, only when she is ready; and the flames are at their highest. The Bialetti Coffee Maker guards its allure as if he has not admitted his love to her. But deep inside, he is a nervous Bialetti coffee maker, aspiring warm vapor inside, full of apprehensive shyness.
“Love at first sight II” is a composition from my kitchen. Love always ignites our happiness. Even in the cuisine.

Love at First Sight I and III.
The collection “Love at First Sight” has been inspired by the kettle and the coffee maker, which has accompanied me for the last 25 years. Coffee and Tea are key elements of our quotidian life.

Morning Brew

Galactic Roses
This is a lovely rose that grew up in the middle of nowhere. I painted the same rose under two different set-ups when closing the month of June 2021. These two oeuvres are part of a series of 12 roses which is still a work in progress.

La Pureté Virginale
The Rhode Island Watercolor Society’s online open juried show “Near and Far” accepted my oeuvre “La Pureté Virginale”. The exhibition was posted online on http://riws.org as of August 21st, 2021.
This flower emerges only once a year. And only during one night. The flower aroma is so intense and delicate that perfumes us with its fragrance. The scientific name of this cactus flower is Epiphyllum Oxypetalum. And the name of this artwork is “virginal purity” in french language. Guess why?

Expecting Grace
This artwork was accepted by the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society 42nd Annual International Juried Exhibition. From 635 entries from 37 states and 17 countries, submitted by 353 artists. The juror granted the honor of the H. K. Holbein and Armadillo Art Award for this artwork at www.pawcs.com. Finally, the artwork was accepted at the International Watercolor Masters 2022 contest.

This artwork took me a while to make it. The fine details of the nest were interminable. She, the little dove, came to put her eggs in a hanging pot that is in the hallway, near where I paint. She was caring for her two little eggs with jealousy and extreme determination. The oeuvre is called “Expecting Grace” because as her, who was expecting her babies, we are waiting for the grace of God to move forward, we are waiting for the grace of the international juries who are qualifying and watching my art production. We continuously wait for God´s grace in life; to continue striving to be happy, and to achieve personal dreams, and economic recovery after the last season of COVID-19.

Grandma Crochet Espresso Shots
Accepted and selected by the International Watercolor Society (Branch Russia) for the First International Watercolor Festival IWS Russia 2021 “Watercolor with Love”. The exhibition was held from August 23rd to October 3rd, 2021. https://iwsglobeart.net/about/. The artwork was also shown at the Annual Exhibition University of El Salvador 2021.

This painting is all about three different aspects of my personal life, in distinct moments of time: the legacy of crochet from my grandma Pilar who was a crochet exquisite artisan; the Bialetti Espresso Moka coffee maker, that was bought during my time as a graduate student in Europe, and was used to prepare the fresh coffee espresso shots; and the Bougainvilleas, one of the most beautiful flowers that I adore. The background wall has moss and darker iron stains, meanwhile climbing plant roots have begun to appear over it.

Under Scrutiny
One day in February, meanwhile I was walking, I saw this adorable shrub of leaves and tiny flowers. The name of this miracle is the Ti plant. Or Good Luck Plant. May the Lord bless you with good luck during all your lifetime. This artwork was exhibited at the  XXXV Exposición Nacional de Centro de Artes de Occidente (APACULSA), 2022 edition in Santa Ana, El Salvador.

Calabasas Party
I painted this melange of zucchinis, pumpkins, and ayotes during the first week of 2021. This oeuvre is not for sale (NFS). It was exhibited at the  XXXIV Exposición Nacional de Centro de Artes de Occidente (APACULSA), 2021 edition in Santa Ana, El Salvador.

Selected by the International Watercolor Society of Albania for the “Still Life” Tirana International Watercolor Biennale 2021. It was exhibited between 13-24 March 2021 at the National Historical Museum, Tirana, Albania.

Allusive Pristine
Accepted and Selected by the Arte 503 Sherwin Williams Contest 2019, San Salvador, El Salvador. https://www.sherwin-color.com/certamen-arte-el-salvador/. This artwork traveled from San Salvador to Singapore and won a Merit Award at the 1st IWS Singapore International Watercolor Exhibition and Competition in August 2021.

Emperor Torch Baton
My first watercolor was prepared for an international contest. This piece of art is unique because it was introduced for the first time in my life to a prestigious watercolor organization in the United States: The American Watercolor Society 153rd Annual Show Exhibition Call for Entries 2020-2021. It was not accepted by the jury then. But I will persistently continue improving and preparing new oeuvres for such recognized and highly esteemed contests in the future.
