Central America: A Quest for the Progression of Economic Value. Bonus-Season V. Episode 3. Sugar Sugar America Part 3. The British Sugar from the West Indies-Production

Dear readers:
Today´s publication is the first dispatch of two sections. The British business model of the colonial sugar plantations of the West Indies, in relation to the cost structure, which is related to the production of sugar, and its transportation (shipping) to the ports of refinery (London, or other locations in America). The British West Indies served as the primary source of sugar and molasses for the North American colonies, in consequence the model is quite different than what we find in academic information. However, the exports from British sugar became so important that the role of the plantation was that of a political-economic institution, giving birth to political organization systems at the service of the sugar farms.

Our agenda for today holds three main themes:
1. The British West Indies geographic elements (Where)
2. The British West Indies Sugar Production Exports (What)
3 .The British West Indies Sugar Production Cost Structure (How much does it cost?)

As usual, find below our frame of reference. Feel free to continue doing research about these themes. The bibliography might help you to find additional elements. Print the slides, study them, and write notes. Share with your family, friends, colleagues, professors, etc.

We kindly request that you return next Monday, January 26, 2026, to review our additional strategic reflections on this chapter.
We encourage our readers to familiarize themselves with our Friday master class by reviewing the slides over the weekend. We expect you to create ideas that may or may not be strategic reflections. Every Monday, we upload our strategic inferences below. These will appear in the next paragraph. Only then will you be able to compare your own reflections with our introspection.

Additional strategic reflections on this episode. These will appear in the section below on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Strategic reflections of this episode:
Dear readers, we are not going to publish our strategic reflections today. We have shifted our approach in our quest to find patterns of data that might help us to re-create what ocurred during the 18th century, specifically in Jamaica and Barbados. We will publish our frame of reference about consumption and production factors for Jamaica and Barbados on Friday, the 30th of January. And we will present all our strategic reflections next monday 2nd of February, 2026. Thank you. Wait for the unexpected! This change is imperative for your learning experience. Blessings.

Closing words.
This episode is the first dispatch about the British business model for sugar production in the West Indies territories during the 18th century. There is more to come next week, when we will cover the consumption side and the rest of the elements related to key partnerships, key customer segments, and relationships with the clients, the key resources and financing, and the revenue streams.

Announcement. Next week, we will continue with the British West Indies sugar model.

Musical Section.
During our closing bonus season V, we will return to the symphonic, philarmonic, or chamber orchestra compositions. Today, we have chosen The National Orchestra of Trinidad and Tobago.
