Leg 3. From Cape Town to Melbourne (IX). In summary, Leg 3 is done.

Good morning!

It is 6:53 am CST. Starting this post one day before Christmas. We have finished the race to Melbourne before Mapfre and Dongfeng Race Team. Amazing!!! We have covered the main concepts, perspectives and we have discussed the different value propositions about this theme from the main consulting firms in the world.

I would like to summarize Leg 3 with the following phrase: “Love and work are to people, what water and sunshine are to plants”.

Jonathan-Haidt

Any Resources and capabilities assessment, analysis and implementation have to be done with the purpose of building outstanding capabilities, which naturally become competitive advantages. As business founders and owners, we must conceive the nature of our role to promote humanity and integrated capabilities for our people (our employees, our stakeholders, our clients and our suppliers). If we truly put our people at the core, there is nothing that will stop us to be successful. People matter more than anything on the planet. When people are treated well when they see we care for them and they perceive we don´t see them as a resource, but as a human being which will evolve from the moment he/she is hired, and will be developed and shaped in skills, in ethical values, attitudes, and economic rewards; then the “resources & capabilities analysis” will have a different approach. “While carrots and sticks worked successfully in the 20th century, financial incentives alone are no longer enough to motivate people for today’s challenges”.

“Love and work are to people, what water and sunshine are to plants”.

A silent wish sails the seven seas… Merry Christmas!

(By the way: I am waiting for my most beloved gift: Alex Guillermo Lozano Artolachipi to come to town)…
