Leg 11. From Gothenburg to Den Haag (III). My book is a work in progress… Stay tuned for VOR 2021.
Good afternoon.
We are all in our way to The Hague. Strategically the teams have split into two groups. The first group: MAPFRE, Akzo Nobel, Brunel and Vestas 11th have decided to sail west of an exclusion zone over 100nm wide blocking the path to The Hague. The second group: Dongfeng, TTOP, and SHK-Scallywag decided to go east. Let´s see which strategic decision will be the best. We are less than 219 NM to The Hague. Which team do you think will win the VOR 2017-2018? One route is longest than the other one, but it seems to us that the longest alternative has better wind conditions than the shortest (east) choice. Moreover, this decision can change the final expected results completely. It is a long sailing night coming over.
Hmmm… Do you want to see more action? Follow the race in social media, and also from tomorrow follow the LIVE Heli at http://www.volvooceanrace.com
We are so glad that we are closer than ever to the finish line. And here, from Eleonora Escalante Strategy, we are almost done too. We have prepared the following set of slides, as an anticipation of what is coming in the future… Please take a look at them.

This is all for today. Tomorrow we will wake up early to see who will win this epic ocean race 2017-2018. Particularly thanks to all our readers, to the Volvo Ocean Race people, sailors, skippers, the HQ team in Alicante. Thanks to my beau Alejandro Guillermo Lozano Artolachipi (for you a big kiss on your lips, of course, I love you!). Thanks to all the book authors, to my professors and wise angels on earth who have helped me to finish my first sailing race. Thanks to my parents for feeding me for 6 years I have not had any revenue, thanks to my brother and sister for giving me a helping hand by lending me their laptops. Thank you! Thank you!. Thank you!. Tons of hugs for everyone and thank you again.
