Bees at work (XX). What has changed at work with the NAIQIs?

I wish you a lovely season of March 2022. We have summarized so many facts in this publication composed for your innermost reflection. So, let´s begin.

The NAIQIs is the acronym that Eleonora Escalante Strategy has coined for Nanotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum-supremacy, and the Internet.  These 4 technologies, all together, advancing concurrently during the last 30 years have changed all our humanity as children of God. All our inventions and gadgets. All our processes and how to make things at work. All our thoughts. All our purpose. Lately, with the pandemic, the NAIQIs in place have compelled people to consider the feasibility of testing digital currencies. The robotic arm of artificial intelligence and automation has risen all over the places, and the pandemic exposed it in its full dimension, particularly in manufacturing and office procedures. Many times Artificial Intelligence is what you get in your Smartphone applications, in Google, in Facebook, or even in Microsoft experiments… we can´t see it as AI, but we use it without knowing.

I have written a saga named “Losing our brains with disruptive technologies”(1), and I was extremely explicative in how the NAIQIs products and services have affected human beings. I invite you to read it again if you wish. This saga started on January 8th, 2020. For the sake of not repeating again the same content, I will exemplify what has changed at work with the NAIQIs… 6 examples, then please I invite you to judge by yourself if the NAIQIs are helping us or faulting us.

Example number 1. Collusion and Conspiracy.

Any of us all over the planet can use WhatsApp. We all realize that one feature of WhatsApp is the formation of groups. The power of instant messaging puts together up to 256 people in one single group under an administrator of its contacts´ members. There is a way to include up to 3,000 or even 10,000 members in one group of Whatsapp if you find the way to do it. Through WhatsApp, there is a foolproof showcase quality that keeps the group simultaneously organized to receive and send information at once. WhatsApp is utilized frequently by families, by a group of friends, a course or a group of students, an army, a government, or by a group of professionals, or associations per segment of common interest.  It can be used for good things, like communicating promptly in a positive way; but at the same time, it can be utilized through collusion and conspiracy to hurt people in a circle of a closed kind of mafia to avoid the law, or to protect under impunity, or to damage with rumors and fake stories at the sound of a snap. For example, imagine for a minute that a physician did a wrong diagnosis to you, he or she provided inappropriate treatment with certain medications that affected your metabolism forever. Physician number 1 belongs to an association of the same class of doctors in your city, in your region, and the whole country. The patient overwhelmed and worried, decides to visit another physician number 2, that is already aware of the situation by a message that Physician number 1 shared through the group of physicians in WhatsApp. Physician number 2 decides to protect Doctor number 1, undercovers the issue, shielding the first doctor who mismanaged the case. The patient goes to another MD (physician number 3) in another state, searching for answers to solve his problem; and he perceives the same degree of collusion. Unable to find a physician that can help him to overcome the disaster of the first one, the patient finds himself lost and powerless, impotent to fix his disease, helpless to find another physician that can aid him, and is unable to fight for his basic human right of searching for a decent health service.

This same degree of viral communication can be used by gangs, or by crime organizations. To avoid being captured by the police, or to plot injury against innocent people.

Collusion is an arrangement between parties to cooperate secretly, be involved in something illegal, or intend to deceive.

Example number 2. Cyber Insecurity and Lack of privacy.

Whatever you upload on the Internet, no matter if it is in a closed group or an open platform: no matter if using social media or another website; be sure that any hacker can get by, and vacuums not only sensible information about your personal life, but also your passwords and banking accounts credentials.  Under the same storyline, cyber insecurity is an endemic disease or viral sickness that no matter what we do, we will never be able to get rid of it. Never is never. The more complex our cyber security tools, the more sophisticated will be the hackers that will cut the cord of your data privacy. For more than 50 years, not even the Pentagon or the most ultra-top organizations (as intelligence agencies, the Homeland Security department, NASA, banks, Fortune 500 private corporations) who spend billions in cybersecurity have been able to pass the tests at 100% of satisfaction safeness.  The more ubiquitous are our NAIQIs devices and software, the more omnipresent will be the risks associated with exposure of our data and information hanging on an internet cloud. Personally, sometimes I feel that information on paper inside an envelope is physically less risky than keeping precious details on a Smartphone, USB, or a computer.

There is no protection to our data.

Example number 3.  Unemployment

Some days ago, I went to one of the Walmart stores in town. Traditionally, these mega supermarkets have had cashiers at the register units who take the control to record the items that you will buy, and finally, they tell you how much to pay. I perceived then, that some of these cashiers were substituted by a computer with a digital touch screen. The new Walmart system is called Automatic Self-Checkouts (ASC), in which the customers grab the products, scan them through barcodes, and finally, they pay using a credit card. The clients complete their shopping without any assistance.  I asked the cashier, what they will do after the whole ASC testing end up giving the order to replace them? She said, “we don´t know yet”. “We won´t be able to stay here, for sure”.

The last example is a tiny one of thousands more to come, in which people will be switched by computers, by automation systems, by robots. And this is not going to happen only in the bottom-line workers (who earn less than US$ 1000 per month), but also in the most sophisticated intellects who are professors at prestigious universities, scientists, bankers, human resource specialists, and others that perform strategic analysis at the top consulting firms in the world (who earn around $30,000 dollars per month).

Unemployment for everyone with the NAIQIs

There is a project in a Boston company that is planning to replace dogs with robotic canines, and so on. The case of unemployment is veracious. And it has started to happen since the advent of computers, and it has gone deeper with the NAIQIs. It has been as truthful that everyone could see it during the pandemic times, in many spheres of their jobs and activities. Unemployed people are the worst transgression that society can hold.

Example number 4. Infinite Stress and Fatigue

The longer hours any of us stays in front of computers or any screen device per day, the longer we will encounter a feeling of tiredness and constant stress. Any arrangement of NAIQIs beyond the Smartphone pretends to become a tool to help us to unwind our productivity and efficiency. Nonetheless, it is the opposite of what has happened. Therapists are being visited by patients with an intense degree of fatigue that no sleep can heal. According to Lydia Denworth (2) “Relationships have long been conducted through a variety of means—in academic-speak—they have always been “multimodal.” That used to mean that we connected in the past through interactions face-to-face, over the phone, and by writing letters to one another. Now we’ve added email, social media, texting, video conference calls for work and even gaming”. How not be so tired? Zoom or MS Teams or any video conference software, all demand high energy levels from people, and this is a reality measured by the experts. Sleep deprivation is also a consequence of high exposure to technologies.

Stress and fatigue at work, with the NAIQIs

Example number 5. Heartless or cold-blooded lack of mercy.

The NAIQIs have established a ubiquitous superficiality and lack of empathy in people. The more connected you are to the Internet and the usage of the NAIQIs, the crueler and barbarous individuals are against other people. I have been personally attacked with vulgarities, obscenities, and expletive bad language in social media, because of my personal views of articles when I write for the Editorials section at El Diario de Hoy. The criticisms written against me only reflect the lack of understanding, the rude feelings, and the direct menaces loaded with anger, insults coming from merciless hearts capable of those opinions. Moreover,  I see insensitive atrocious reactions without compassion, in which people say what they hold inside, caring only for unimportant things (the look, the make-up, the manicure, the fatty degree of obesity, or whatever superficial characteristic); instead of caring for the essence of the feelings, the personality, the thoughts or current situation of somebody. Personally, I have met people in town who are attacking me of fat, Gorda, obese, or more worried about me gaining 10 pounds of weight because I was unable to exercise (I fractured my foot last year); than overseeing how I feel after 4 months of swimming recovery sessions at the pool in order to improve the movement of my right foot… Finally, People are more worried to take a photo or a video about a critical situation than helping.

Example number 6. Declining of our basic brain processes.

With the advent of the NAIQIs, our brains are getting dumber. At this moment in time, all our civilization is co-dependent on technologies, particularly we are all internet addicts. Some are more than others, but we all have given our creative powers to the Internet. We are very far from doing what our historical wise-scientists or multidisciplinary erudite did without any of the NAIQIs in place. We are very far from what Leonardo Davinci, Tesla, Thomas Edison, or Albert Einstein delivered.

Our brains are in the process to become morons. We are inter-reliant on the screens, touch the digital buttons and that´s it. Zero effort is our logo. Leaving all our ethical purposes outside. We invest stuff to set it inside the Smartphones. Are our brains wired to never satiate its desire for more NAIQIs and forevermore quickly? And once we find something new, we are always in search of destroying it, to automate it in tiny dimensions just to insert it in a little chip that will do everything. I think we are substituting ourselves forever.

Let me list the skills that have been damaged with the use of the NAIQIs at work:

  1. Manual dexterity and precision
  2. Memory, verbal, auditory and spatial abilities
  3. Intuition to perceive the big picture of our decisions and consequences
  4. Reading, writing, math, and active listening
  5. Good management of the personnel
  6. Coordination of working in parallel scenarios
  7. Visual and speech abilities
  8. Critical thinking, analytical learning, creativity, originality, and balanced innovation
  9. Solidarity for those economic sectors affected by the NAIQIs inventions: the whole world of the arts, the artisan community, any hand-made (no computer) based initiative.
  10. In general, our capacity to think integrally with a 360 view has been barred.

We will stop here because this publication is linked with the following one “An appraisal to workforce and employment trends after 2 years of COVID pandemic”. See you next Friday.

Strategic reflection music section.

Why did we pick Alejandro Sanz? He is a Spanish songwriter and composer. Probably not well known as Fonsi (Despacito song), but Sanz has had a long trajectory that reflects his unique style that transcends frontiers. With 24 Latin Grammys prizes jackpots, 6 nominations, and 4 wins at the Grammys, we can´t ignore him in this section.  Alejandro has always given us romantic loving songs. Sometimes solo, sometimes in collaboration with other artists. But he has not stopped to surprise us with his lyrics, swindled with emotion. Sanz was born to show solidarity with other artists. He has always demonstrated collaboration in all his albums. Collaboration means cooperation and teamwork to help other emerging artists to rise up in their quest to be known by the audiences.

Songs for today go to Taylor Swift.  Again, I have chosen three songs from her innocent newcomer style. The first one is “Fifteen”. The second one is “Fearless”, and the third one is “Cardigan”. Enjoy!

Thank you for reading to me. See you next Friday. Blessings!
