Leg 6. From Hong Kong to Auckland (I). Ready, Set, Go!
Good afternoon again!
Here we are leaving Hong Kong Port and heading the fastest route to the north-east of the Tropical Storm exclusion zone. We have to ensure to avoid this zone because we can´t expose ourselves to the worst of the sea forecast conditions. I am so happy we are finally leaving Hong Kong. Yes!
“Leg 6 of the Volvo Ocean Race will take the fleet through the Luzon Strait and then on an easterly heading before the boats dive south through the Doldrums and then southeast to the northern tip of New Zealand”. We will have to decide which direction we can follow in order to gain some advantage over the rest of the boats. I do hope my delay in starting to sail, will be of benefit at the end. Sometimes, in business strategy, delays are “blessings”.
As usual, let me share with you where we stand right now in terms of our strategy race:
If you wish to download the overall Strategy Route to The Hague, please click here: Eliescalante VOR 2017-2018 Leg 6 Updated Timeline.
In addition, I have already prepared the Leg 6 Outline. We will develop the theme Value Chain Analysis from Porter. We will cover 6 topics under it, during the following 20 days. Can you believe we have been sailing for quite a while? We are almost 50% done on our way to The Hague. It is incredible, to see how quickly time has passed and we have done so much, but still, we are halfway to arrive at our final destination by mid-June 2018.
If you started to read me and follow all these writings since October last year, I really wish to thank you. As you can see, by now, I hope we have understood some of the most relevant subjects about business strategy. This course is a gift for all of you and I do it with so much love, thinking every day that it will be useful and meaningful. I do hope in some way, I can help to humanize business strategy for everyone who is interested in learning about it. I also wish for the rest of the 2017-2018 Strategy Race, we can begin to change our business strategy models “petit a petit” in order to make them more ethical, collaborative and delightful for our beautiful businesses and future generations.
Sometimes to be the last is a blessing. God sets us with “delays” to prove our character, patience, and endurance. God delays our best successful plans and dreams because he is protecting us from difficult situations, not just in sailing, but also in our business endeavors. God is wiser than us, and to be the last, is not a reason to be sad. In the Kingdom of God, Last will be the First. Don´t worry we will reach the rest of the teams before this coming Saturday. To my beau Alejandro Guillermo Lozano Artolachipi, whom I adore with all my soul, I also wish to thank you for your unconditional support, your love and your patience with me. Alex Lozano Artolachipi, I do hope we will marry this year, “por fin!”
At full speed, all the best.
