From the Enlightenment to Business Models. Episode 8B.Who moved the ways of the Enlightenment? Les lumières de la France.

Another Friday has come by, and here we are so enthusiastic about sharing our work of the week.

We have collected, read, processed, cleaned, analyzed, and written the material about the French lumieres of the Enlightenment season in France (17th and 18th centuries). Find it below. I encourage you to download it, print it in PDF format, and file it for your future reference.

The list of all the main relevant French enlightenment philosophes (no matter if radical, moderate, or counter-enlightenment) is included in slides 10 and 11. More than 40 thinkers, left a legacy of written material about their own theories, including treaties, letters, books, booklets, etc. We have tried to select only those who we consider free-thinkers. We have left out those who were activists or political revolutionaries. If there is one missed, please do not hesitate to contact me to add him or her accordingly.

Read all the slides with detailed attention. Visit the references included, which will provide a better overview for you. I have added some insight into the context of the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror. The last two slides of our material are about a parallel between the Capetian political economic system and the current techno-feudalism in which we live. I would like to hear your comments and feedback about our inference regarding this situation. What do you think?

Announcement.
Next week we will continue our journey with the Spanish and Portuguese chapters. Be aware that we are almost done with the first season of this saga. We are expecting to finish Season I, all together with the Ocean Race fleet, once we all will arrive in Itajai, Brazil. This will happen in a few weeks from now. Then we will take 2 weeks of vacation, for maintenance and repairs; only to start season II on April 23rd, 2023. For the time being, enjoy your weekend with the reading of our today´s material.

Only around 1000 miles ahead to reach Cape Horn. Look at our position in the tracker below. The Malizia team is winning all of us, just for a few miles.

We are full of hope because the worst of the Southern Ocean has been left behind. In a couple of days, we will be approaching Cape Horn. According to the Ocean Race source, “The weather forecast is for conditions to escalate on Saturday with trailing winds near 35 knots, gusting into the mid-40s, and a sea state over 6 meters”. The risk of sailing under these conditions is that any of our boats could be damaged. If the waves are huge, then the boats tend to slow down.

It is under these tough circumstances, that we need to be extremely careful. In business models, all our premises should be tested in the worst of events, if we pass the test, then we can initiate our endeavors. Raising the standards of our business models is a pending mission. If we don´t set better standards, it is adequate to restrain ourselves to start or to go at high speed, because our design of business is incomplete, or it is based on premises that do not comply with the most elevated indicators of integral strategy. In the case of the Ocean Race, all the IMOCA boats are new, and they have been tested during this epic Leg 3. Almost all the teams, including myself, have been required to do some kind of reparation “on the go”. So this race has been designed as a trial, to experiment with this new state-of-the-art equipment, which will need to be modified once the race will finish. We do business according to certain rules and a bar of requisites. We do business racing according to standards. If the caliber of our standards is low, we generate a mess. If we don´t elevate our requirements to save our life, our brains, and our environment, we will regret it deeply in the future.

Let´s look at what happened during the last week at the Ocean Race Show video below. In addition, our theme selection is Mandolin music from the 18th century. From Brilliant Classics Youtube Channel.  Thank you and blessings for reading to me.
