Value Propositions: Theory and cases. Episode 12. Let´s practice. Example 4. Diamond Engagement Rings from Botswana

Have a beautiful last Friday of April of this year 2024. Find below the work that we have carefully prepared during the last two weeks. Given the nature of the product, we had to read a lot about the diamond industry, but we have done our best. We didn´t publish last Friday, given the spirit of the case, and the next 71 slides are the guarantee of the result of our intentions.

Your challenge for the weekend is set. Again, your homework over the weekend was to try to build not one, but two customer value propositions for this case: the first one is for the groom who is the economic buyer of the product; and the second one is for the bride, who is the ultimate user of the engagement ring. The idea is that you learn how to ensemble two CVPs in one.

Botswana is a miracle for economic growth in Africa. Regardless of all the environmental critiques about mining, we wish to show you how a simple stone extracted from the deepest of the earth, can change the destiny of a nation. We were inspired by more than 80% of the global newlyweds who are not able to buy a natural diamond engagement ring. The slides embrace all the rationale behind this case. Read them thoroughly.

Find all the information that you will require in the following document. There are 71 slides, that you can share, download and print by clicking on the download button. Again, we advise you to try to construct both CVPs on your own. Only by trying to accomplish the homework by yourself, you will be able to learn. Otherwise, it is a waste of time to just wait for our solution which is uploaded every Monday, after the weekend. Visit the references from the bibliography. Read them thoroughly. Go ahead, and download the document, please.

Returning on Monday to upload our solution. On Fridays, we provide the template of the CVP with a contextual analysis of all the variables you should consider, and on Mondays, we upload the solution. We hope you can build two Customer Value Propositions for this case (one for the groom and a second for the bride). Then try to join both in one for the fit section.  We truly expect you will be animated to compare what you did over the weekend with our work.

The Solution to this exercise.
Our inferences are all included in the slides. For the time being, we are done with this exercise. We truly expect you can learn from these drills as much as we enjoy to prepare this material for you. For the sake of this example, we are evaluating the market for marriages (we are not considering the wedding anniversary occasion to buy diamond jewelry).

Announcement.
Please remember that we publish our frame-of-reference slides only on Fridays, and we upload our strategic reflections later. As of today, I will leave you with enough homework for the weekend, and we upload our solution on Monday. Let´s see how it will work. We always publish at the latest before 11:59 pm (CST). The 13th episode is about a global transportation services enterprise, and it will be published next Friday 3rd of May, 2024.

Musical Section.
This saga is about improvement, amelioration, upgrading, and the advancement required in the theory and practice of value propositions. Value propositions are the first step in our business modeling frameworks. If the value proposition is improper, then our business model is mistaken. Therefore, we will also share the music of classical progress that marked a before and after in the history of music.

Aujourd´hui is the time for Franz Liszt (1811-1886). He was born in Hungary and was one of the most versatile pianists and composers of his epoch. His compositions are exquisite. We invite you to read his biography here: https://www.worldhistory.org/Franz_Liszt/#:. Liszt’s life marked a before and after in Europe. The video has been prepared by Brilliant Classics.
