Revenge Strategy, wasting the power of your hate on the guiltless (XXXIV): GMOs hit everything.
Have a beautiful weekend. Trust me when I write that I yearned to complete this theme today. But contrary to my heart desire, I will have to return next week to accomplish it.
Corporate strategy is nothing else than to define what we will do with our endeavors in business. The definition of what are we going to sell requires an ethical corporate strategy design and an industry analysis.
GMOs affect everything.
The issue with the GMOs industry analysis is complex. If we wish to explore the GMOs related industries, when it comes to seeds and food, there is not one unique industry to examine. There are many industries affected by GMOs tied in between. It is like a spiderweb of industries. And when we try to segment the industry players, the genetically modified seeds hit multiple economic sectors, subsectors and various industries. Not just the GMOs producers and farmers. When it comes to food, everything is altered.
Who is who in this industry? The GMO´s market and its industry.
It is particularly blurry to start writing about the GMOs industries and markets. We can´t see the genetically modified seeds as a stand-alone product kin group sold to crop production companies. In consequence, as mentioned previously, instead of writing about the seeds big conglomerates which have altered them, I was forced to review which industries are directly and indirectly affected by GMOs.
I used the American Industry classification system NAICS (The North American Industry
Classification System (NAICS) revision for 2017). Please take a look at the following set of slides. Otherwise, you can download the document in PDF format too.
If you wish to download it in PDF click here: Eliescalante Revenge Strategy-industries affected by GMOs.
Once you read the slides, you will be able to understand why to alter the seeds genetically, is a huge risk for many economic sectors, subsectors, and multiple industries. All our life depends on the seeds. If what we eat is altered genetically, and it has side effects on our health, it is impacting not just the GMO´s producers and farmers, but the whole value chain industries associated with them.
For a minute, close your eyes, and think: What will happen, if, in 50 years from now, other groups of scientists (which are not born yet) identify that GMOs have more risks and dangers for humans´ health, plants, animals constitutions, and the environment than the benefits or gains? What will happen if these future scientists actualize and get firm evidence about the hazards of GMOs to our planet? And what is worst, let´s think that for the infinity, we have corrupted the whole food security of the planet and we can´t go back to retrieve the original seeds before these were altered genetically? What will happen if the alteration of the seeds compromise not just the health of the existing living species, but the new species generations will be altered genetically for worst and will have to bear shameful sicknesses without a cure?
I will stop here. I owe you the answers to the following questions. I will return next week with a complete analysis of these interrogations.
Which are the risks and benefits of GMOs on the environment?
What are the dangers and gains associated with GMO crop consumption?
Why the European Union has resisted the widespread use of genetically altered seeds, anticipating harmful effects on human health and premonition of genetic pollution?
Thank you. Have a happy weekend.
